Deck overview

This is a classic Izzet spellslinger burn deck helmed by Gandalf the Grey, whose modal trigger turns every instant and sorcery cast into a choice between copying spells, dealing 3 damage to each opponent, or untapping a mana source. The deck layers Gandalf's modes on top of a suite of magecraft burn engines - Fiery Inscription, Coruscation Mage, Longshot, Rebel Bowman, and Gandalf, Goblins' Bane - so that every cantrip drains the whole table. A dense draw/cantrip package (Ponder, Preordain, Brainstorm, Expressive Iteration, Stock Up, Dig Through Time) fuels the chain, and Past in Flames / Mizzix's Mastery provide the big recursion turns that recast everything for the kill. Secondary paths include a token swarm from Young Pyromancer and Third Path Iconoclast, with Thassa, Deep-Dwelling flickering value pieces. The deck wins by grinding the table down through repeated spell casts rather than a single combo.
