Deck overview

This Golgari deck leverages Hazel of the Rootbloom to build an overwhelming board of Squirrels, Foods, and other tokens. Early turns focus on establishing cheap token producers and mana ramp to cast Hazel on Turn 4. Hazel accelerates mana velocity by tapping tokens and doubles token generation on end steps. The midgame converts this resource engine into card draw through engines like Skullclamp and Idol of Oblivion. The deck wins by going wide and resolving massive overrun effects like Beastmaster Ascension and End-Raze Forerunners, or by draining opponents through aristocrat payoffs like Mirkwood Bats, Nadier's Nightblade, and Valley Rotcaller. It also contains a compact infinite combo between Chatterfang, Squirrel General and Pitiless Plunderer that clears opposing creatures and generates arbitrary death triggers.
