Deck overview

This mono-black deck is led by Sheoldred, the Apocalypse, using her lifegain and life-drain triggers to turn card draw into a decisive weapon. The deck ramps during the early turns with efficient mana rocks and rituals, then deploys Sheoldred on Turn 4 to stabilize life totals and steadily tax opposing draw steps. On Turn 5, the deck transitions into a lethal win attempt, most notably by targeting itself with Peer into the Abyss to draw half the library and gain massive life, instantly finding fast mana and game-ending combos. The deck contains multiple redundant win conditions, including Exquisite Blood paired with Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose or Enduring Tenacity, Bloodchief Ascension with Mindcrank, and Bolas's Citadel with Aetherflux Reservoir. Strong mono-black removal, graveyard hate, and search denial protect the game plan until a combo closes the game.
