Deck overview

This Abzan build is a +1/+1 counters midrange deck helmed by Anafenza, the Foremost, whose attack trigger spreads counters and graveyard exile ability disrupts opposing graveyard strategies. The core plan is to deploy a suite of keyword-granting Outlast creatures (Abzan Falconer, Tuskguard Captain, Mer-Ek Nightblade) alongside counter doublers (Hardened Scales, Conclave Mentor, Winding Constrictor) to turn a wide board into an evasive, trampling, deathtouching army. The deck leans heavily on land-based ramp and value creatures (Avenger of Zendikar, Tireless Tracker) to build inevitability, while recursion engines (Sun Titan, Meren of Clan Nel Toth, Living Death) provide resilience against wipes. It lacks instant-speed combos, relying instead on sustained combat pressure and incremental advantage.
