Deck overview

This is a mono-black aristocrats and devotion drain deck helmed by Ayara, First of Locthwain. The plan floods the board with cheap recursive creatures and token engines, then converts deaths into life loss via Ayara, First of Locthwain, Zulaport Cutthroat, The Meathook Massacre, and Bloodletter of Aclazotz. Sacrifice outlets and treasure engines (Phyrexian Altar, Ashnod's Altar, Pitiless Plunderer, Warren Soultrader) enable both infinite drain loops and explosive mana for Gray Merchant of Asphodel or Torment of Hailfire. Ayara is a repeatable drain trigger and sac-draw engine rather than a hard combo piece; the 99 contains multiple independent win lines. Secondary paths include devotion storms off Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx/Cabal Coffers and attrition locks with Grave Pact.
