Deck overview

This Dimir spellslinger deck pairs Gale, Waterdeep Prodigy with Scion of Halaster to convert the graveyard into a second hand. Scion of Halaster smooths natural draws while intentionally stocking the graveyard with powerful sorceries and instants. Gale breaks spellcasting parity by allowing you to cast a sorcery from your graveyard whenever you cast an instant from hand, and vice versa. The deck controls the tempo of the game using efficient countermagic, mass bounce spells like Wash Out, and split-second redirection via Sudden Substitution. As cost reducers like Mindsplice Apparatus and Haughty Djinn lower mana hurdles, token generators such as Talrand, Sky Summoner and Metallurgic Summonings build a wide board. The deck closes out the game on Turn 7 by resolving Candlekeep Inspiration or Open into Wonder, turning an unassuming swarm of tokens into massive, lethal attackers scaled by the large volume of spells in exile and the graveyard.
