Deck overview

This deck is a mono-green Hydra tribal and stompy deck commanded by Gargos, Vicious Watcher. The primary strategy focuses on ramping quickly into Gargos, whose passive four-mana cost reduction transforms expensive X-cost and high-mana Hydras into explosive, undercosted beaters. Gargos's fight ability turns cheap single-target protection and combat tricks—such as Blossoming Defense, Tamiyo's Safekeeping, and Tyvar's Stand—into high-efficiency removal spells that control opposing creatures while keeping your threats safe. Once Gargos and several massive Hydras like Kalonian Hydra and Primordial Hydra establish board dominance, the deck closes the game through overwhelming combat damage aided by trample enablers and finishers like Overwhelming Stampede and Unnatural Growth. While vulnerable to mass exile sweepers and lacking stack-based countermagic, dense redundancy of high-stat threats, built-in fighting, and low-cost protective spells ensure resilient and aggressive mid-game execution.
