Deck overview

This deck is an Orzhov sacrifice and attrition midrange strategy commanded by Carmen, Cruel Skymarcher. The game plan revolves around deploying symmetrical edict effects like Fleshbag Marauder and Accursed Marauder that force every player to sacrifice creatures. Because Carmen gains a +1/+1 counter and life whenever any player sacrifices a permanent, these edict effects rapidly turn Carmen into a massive flying threat. On combat, Carmen reanimates low-cost permanents directly from the graveyard, setting up a continuous loop where edicts and protection creatures return to the battlefield every turn. As opposing creature boards are swept away, aristocrat drain engines such as Syr Konrad, the Grim, Blood Artist, and Starscape Cleric steadily burn down opposing life totals. The deck backs up this strategy with heavy asymmetric stax pieces like Braids, Cabal Minion, Dictate of Erebos, and Tergrid, God of Fright, creating overwhelming resource disparity before closing the game through aerial commander damage and mass life drain.
