Scions & Spellcraft (Budget Upgrade)(Y'shtola Drain) by BeardDadJoe

Format: Commander

Commander: Y'shtola, Night's Blessed

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Y'shtola, Night's Blessed helms a Esper control/pinger deck that aims to drain the table incrementally while generating card advantage. The commander's two triggers reward casting noncreature spells of mana value 3 or greater (dealing 2 damage to each opponent and gaining 2 life) and tracking life loss (drawing a card at end of turn if a player lost 4+ life). The deck is packed with instant and sorcery cost reducers, magecraft payoffs, and pillowfort effects to survive to the late game. Primary win conditions are a massive Exsanguinate sustained drain from Professor Onyx, Kambal, Consul of Allocation, and Liesa, Shroud of Dusk; combat through flyers and token generators like Metallurgic Summonings; and eventual attrition via Talion, the Kindly Lord and repeated graveyard recursion from Emet-Selch of the Third Seat. The deck plays a reactive, value-oriented game, using counterspells and removal to control the board while its passive drain effects accumulate.
