Deck overview

This deck is an Abzan midrange strategy commanded by Thalia and The Gitrog Monster. It combines land acceleration and soft stax with a dense suite of deathtouch creatures and keyword-sharing synergies. The commander slows down opponents' tempo by forcing their nonbasic lands and creatures to enter tapped, creating favorable attack windows while providing extra land drops each turn. The deck establishes early board presence with low-cost deathtouch creatures and transitions into mid-game pressure using keyword amplifiers like Odric, Lunarch Marshal, Akroma, Vision of Ixidor, and Fynn, the Fangbearer. Finishing lines rely on combat damage, poison counters, or decisive pump spells such as Akroma's Will and Triumph of the Hordes. While the deck lacks universal tutors and countermagic, its high permanent redundancy, defensive deathtouch wall, and resilient land engine provide strong recovery and steady attrition across multiplayer games.
