Deck overview

The deck combines Abzan counters, creature value, defensive permanents, and a compact infinite-damage finish. Its strongest plan is to assemble Heliod, Sun-Crowned with Walking Ballista. Once Walking Ballista has at least two counters and gains lifelink from Heliod, Sun-Crowned, each damage activation gains life and causes Heliod, Sun-Crowned to replace the removed counter. The loop then deals unlimited damage. The deck can search for pieces with Eladamri's Call, Dark Petition, and Profane Tutor, but these effects do not normally find both cards at once. Moderate ramp helps pay the nine-mana setup cost, while Flawless Maneuver, Heroic Intervention, and Grand Abolisher offer some protection. If the combo is unavailable, Betor, Kin to All rewards a high-toughness board with cards, untaps, and repeated life loss. The main weaknesses are slow access, tapped lands, limited stack interaction, and poor recovery after both combo creatures are removed.
