Deck overview

This Sultai midrange deck combines the Mutate mechanic with non-Human Ooze tribal synergies under Otrimi, the Ever-Playful. The primary game plan revolves around deploying low-cost non-Human creatures in the early turns, then mutating Otrimi, the Ever-Playful and other mutate creatures onto them to build large, layered combat threats. As the mutate pile grows, it triggers powerful value and removal abilities, such as Auspicious Starrix placing multiple permanents directly onto the battlefield, Gemrazer shattering artifacts and enchantments, and Dirge Bat removing opposing creatures. Graveyard recursion is heavily integrated through Otrimi's combat damage trigger and Brokkos, Apex of Forever, allowing the deck to rebuild its mutate stacks after removal. While the deck possesses robust mana fixing with original dual lands and flexible protection spells like Spellskite, its win condition relies on fair combat damage over several turn cycles, leaving it susceptible to well-timed sweepers.
