Deck overview

This deck is a five-color spellslinger storm strategy centered on the prepare mechanic and spell-copying triggers, helmed by Codie, Ravenous Codex. The list leverages prepare creatures—such as Blazing Firesinger // Seething Song, Emeritus of Ideation // Ancestral Recall, and Emeritus of Conflict // Lightning Bolt—to cast impactful spells from the battlefield, which Codie duplicates. Supporting engines like Archmage Emeritus, Vega, the Watcher, and Storm-Kiln Artist translate these casts into massive card advantage and mana replenishment. The primary win route involves establishing an overwhelming board state on Turn 6 via Thousand-Year Storm or Displacer Kitten, untapping on Turn 7 to chain spells and eliminate all three opponents using burn payoffs like Guttersnipe and Ral, Storm Conduit. While the deck generates explosive velocity once operational, its heavy basic-land count creates color friction, and its minimal interaction package leaves it susceptible to aggressive opponents and disruptive removal.
