Deck overview

This deck is a classic Grixis Wheels and Group Slug build commanded by Nekusar, the Mindrazer. The primary strategy focuses on deploying Nekusar to accelerate card draw across the table while turning every opponent draw into unavoidable life loss. The deck leverages symmetric draw and discard effects—such as Dark Deal, Winds of Change, and Teferi's Puzzle Box—to deal massive bursts of damage while disrupting opponents' hand curation. Redundant burn payoffs including Orcish Bowmasters, Scrawling Crawler, Liliana's Caress, and Syr Konrad, the Grim ensure consistent pressure even if the commander is removed. To protect its high-cost centerpiece, the deck features a strong suite of low-mana counterspells and recursion auras like Kaya's Ghostform. While giving opponents extra cards inherently increases the threat of opposing removal, the deck's sheer density of forced-draw triggers and life-drain engines allows it to close out 40-life pods efficiently within two turn cycles post-onset.
