Deck overview

This deck is an Orzhov Angel tribal and lifegain attrition strategy commanded by Liesa, Shroud of Dusk. The primary game plan focuses on establishing early lifegain triggers using low-cost Clerics and mana artifacts, deploying Liesa on Turn 4 to establish a persistent 2-life tax on all spellcasts. Because the deck continuously gains life through lifelink and soul-sister triggers, it easily breaks parity on Liesa's symmetrical tax while draining opponents down. A robust flying Angel package led by Righteous Valkyrie, Lyra Dawnbringer, and Valkyrie Harbinger builds a formidable aerial army that closes out the game around Turn 8. The commander's unique casting mechanic completely bypasses standard mana commander tax by paying life instead, granting exceptional engine recovery against removal. The deck excels at grinding out creature-based matchups through efficient exile removal and defensive blowouts like Inkshield, though it remains reliant on combat steps and vulnerable to mass enchantment or artifact sweepers.
