Nicol Bolas by Paavali

Format: Commander

Commander: Nicol Bolas, the Ravager // Nicol Bolas, the Arisen

Bracket: 5

Deck overview

This is a Grixis cEDH combo-control deck. The primary plan is a deterministic Demonic Consultation/Tainted Pact plus Thassa's Oracle win, with Underworld Breach + Lion's Eye Diamond loops and an Isochron Scepter + Dramatic Reversal infinite-mana line into Walking Ballista as backups. The front face of Nicol Bolas, the Ravager is a 4/4 flyer that strips one card from each opponent; the Arisen back face provides card draw, removal, and recursion in long games. The deck is built around the front as a cheap value drop and uses the back only when the game slows. No combo requires the commander, and there is no hidden commander-the engine is the tutor suite.
