Deck overview

This Sultai deck harnesses the mutate mechanic under Otrimi, the Ever-Playful, merging versatile creature abilities onto resilient non-Human bases. Early turns focus on accelerating mana with low-cost ramp and deploying evasive or indestructible host creatures like Birds of Paradise, Stormchaser Drake, and Toski, Bearer of Secrets. By Turn 4, mutating Otrimi onto a host establishes a fast combat clock that continuously recovers mutate cards from the graveyard. In the mid-game, stacking mutate triggers from cards such as Auspicious Starrix, Archipelagore, and Chittering Harvester overwhelms opposing boards through mass permanent deployment, creature tap-locks, and forced sacrifices. The deck protects its consolidated mutate towers using targeted instant shields like Heroic Intervention and Tamiyo's Safekeeping. Game finishes are secured on Turns 6 to 8 through lethal trample damage, accumulated commander damage, or team-wide infect delivered by Triumph of the Hordes.
