Deck overview

This Golgari deck uses a dual-faced commander to control the graveyard early and build a massive creature board late. In the early game, Valentin, Dean of the Vein exiles opposing dying creatures and creates 1/1 Pest tokens. As the game transitions into the mid-game, the deck pivots toward its other face, Lisette, Dean of the Root, turning consistent lifegain triggers into permanent +1/+1 counters and trample across the entire board. Supporting token generators like Ophiomancer, The Swarmweaver, and Lluwen, Exchange Student flood the battlefield, while drain enablers like Enduring Tenacity, Dai Li Agents, and South Wind Avatar convert combat and life swings into direct life loss for opponents. The deck operates fairly on curve, relying on high synergy between creature tokens and lifegain payoffs to overwhelm opponents by turns 6 through 8.
