Deck overview

This Golgari deck utilizes The Serpent Society to weaponize low-cost deathtouch creatures into an oppressive combat and attrition engine. The game plan focuses on deploying efficient deathtouch bodies early, establishing the commander, and leveraging poison multipliers such as Fynn, the Fangbearer and Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon. The commander's unique Ward ability inflicts five poison counters on any player targeting it, heavily deterring spot removal. When attacking, deathtouch creatures present a lose-lose scenario for opponents: blocking results in deathtouch trades that trigger The Serpent Society to force table-wide nontoken creature sacrifices, while failing to block rapidly accumulates lethal poison counters. Robust land ramp and targeted Golgari removal ensure steady mana development and threat management, while high-end engines like Sheoldred, Whispering One and Contagion Engine close out stalled boards.
