Deck overview

This Sultai deck focuses on Indominus Rex, Alpha as a hybrid Voltron commander and massive card-advantage engine. By accelerating into the commander on Turn 4 and discarding multi-keyword creatures—such as Sire of Seven Deaths, Nightveil Predator, and Gurmag Swiftwing—Indominus enters the battlefield as an evasive, hexproof, lifelinking, and haste-enabled threat that immediately refills your hand with fresh cards. The deck transitions into lethal damage through powerful graveyard and +1/+1 counter synergies, primarily using Varolz, the Scar-Striped to scavenge a 1-mana Death's Shadow for 13 counters, creating a 19/19 commander. It closes games through commander damage, wide overruns with Overwhelming Stampede, or direct table-wide life drain using Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord. Robust Sultai removal, counter preservation through The Ozolith, and versatile protection spells like Ripples of Potential provide strong mid-game resilience.
