Deck overview

The Madcap Jester leads a combat-based theft deck. The core plan is to deploy the commander, give it haste when possible, attack each opponent's library, and cast useful exiled cards with flexible mana. Supporting cards repeat or extend this theme: Etali, Primal Storm, Brainstealer Dragon, Elder Brain, Prosper, Tome-Bound, and Grenzo, Havoc Raiser all turn combat or exile access into additional resources. Goad effects from Kardur, Doomscourge, Disrupt Decorum, and Bothersome Quasit redirect combat, while Propaganda reduces attacks against you. The deck has respectable casual interaction and occasional explosive turns from stolen spells, but its output is random and its finish is not deterministic. It is slow against compact combo decks and vulnerable to creature removal, sweepers, blockers, and graveyard or exile restrictions. Its best games involve repeated attacks, Treasure generation, and casting opponents' strongest cards before establishing a large stolen board.
