Format: Commander

Commander: Liliana, Heretical Healer // Liliana, Defiant Necromancer

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

This is a mono-black graveyard-value deck helmed by Liliana, Heretical Healer, who flips into Liliana, Defiant Necromancer on a death trigger to become a reanimation planeswalker. The deck blends Zombie tribal with a nine-deep planeswalker subtheme and a compact combo finish. The primary win is Chain of Smog plus Professor Onyx for infinite magecraft drain, backed by Gravecrawler loops through Phyrexian Altar/Ashnod's Altar with Ayara, First of Locthwain converting each recast into table-wide life loss. Secondary paths include Gray Merchant of Asphodel devotion drain, a wide Zombie swarm under Liliana's Mastery and Endless Ranks of the Dead, and mass reanimation via Rise of the Dark Realms. The commander is one of many recursion engines rather than the linchpin - every combo line lives in the 99, and the deck executes its plan comfortably without ever casting her.
