Deck overview

This Orzhov deck is helmed by Kambal, Profiteering Mayor, blending aristocrat drain strategies with forced token gifting and asymmetric anti-token taxes. The core game plan revolves around deploying Kambal alongside token generators—both self-contained engines like Black Market Connections and donation effects like Akroan Horse or Clackbridge Troll—to trigger Kambal's token copying and drain abilities. High-impact finishers such as Tombstone Stairwell and Mirkwood Bats rapidly accelerate life loss across all three opponents by generating and sacrificing dozens of tokens each turn cycle. A robust pillowfort and stax subtheme featuring Ghostly Prison, Blind Obedience, Illness in the Ranks, and Virulent Plague suppresses enemy combat and punishes token strategies. While the deck boasts extensive instant-speed removal and high functional redundancy among drain pieces, it operates without nonland tutors, fast mana, or dedicated protection spells, relying on natural card draw and board presence to achieve a steady Turn 8 victory.
