Deck overview

This deck is an Azorius stax and control list built around Grand Arbiter Augustin IV. The game plan focuses on slowing opposing strategies through early asymmetric mana taxes, rule-setting creatures, and attack deterrents while discounting friendly spells. The deck utilizes dense 2-mana ramp and Medallions to accelerate Grand Arbiter onto the board by Turn 3. Once opponents are constrained by taxes like Aura of Silence, Thalia, Guardian of Thraben, and Lavinia, Azorius Renegade, the deck transitions into finding its primary win condition, Approach of the Second Sun. It supports this line through spell tutors like Mystical Tutor and Personal Tutor, along with Teferi, Time Raveler to shut down opposing interaction. A secondary line exists through Hullbreaker Horror bouncing opposing nonland permanents with cheap zero-cost artifact creatures. While resilient on the stack, the deck remains vulnerable to resolved go-wide combat boards and graveyard combos due to a lack of board wipes.
