Deck overview

This mono-blue tempo and control deck is commanded by Katara, Waterbending Master, who gains experience counters whenever you cast spells during opponents' turns and converts those counters into massive card draw upon attacking. The deck plays a classic draw-go strategy, leaving mana open every turn to cast efficient countermagic, removal, and cantrips. This reactive gameplay rapidly stacks experience counters on the player. Katara then attacks with unblockability from cards like Aqueous Form and Sword Coast Sailor to draw 5 to 10+ cards a turn, maintaining a massive hand with Reliquary Tower and Decanter of Endless Water. Win conditions scale directly with hand size and card draw, using Empyrial Plate, Hand of Vecna, and Nerd Rage to defeat opponents through commander damage, alongside Psychosis Crawler, Twenty-Toed Toad, and Ominous Seas for alternate finishes. A deep suite of phasing spells and counterspells ensures Katara remains protected while controlling the table.
