Deck overview

This deck is a synergistic Mardu Vampire tribal build commanded by Edgar Markov. By leveraging Edgar's Eminence ability from the command zone, the deck creates a 1/1 black Vampire token whenever any Vampire spell is cast, generating wide board presence without additional mana investment. An aggressive curve featuring efficient creatures like Knight of the Ebon Legion, Cordial Vampire, and Blood Artist establishes an operational board state by Turn 3. The strategy escalates on Turn 5 using explosive combat multipliers such as Shared Animosity, Coat of Arms, or casting Edgar Markov directly for team-wide +1/+1 counters. Secondary aristocrat drain pieces including Cruel Celebrant, Bastion of Remembrance, and Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose convert creature trades and opposing board wipes into direct life loss. Robust spot removal handles priority opposing threats, allowing the deck to close out games reliably by Turn 7.
