Deck overview

This deck is an Azorius Voltron tempo strategy commanded by Lyse Hext. The primary game plan revolves around casting Lyse Hext on Turn 3 and leveraging her static cost reduction to chain low-cost cantrips, evasion spells, and equipment on Turn 4. Once two noncreature spells are cast in a single turn, Lyse Hext gains double strike, turning prowess boosts and equipment buffs into rapid commander damage eliminations starting on Turn 5. The deck compensates for its lack of fast mana rocks by running an exceptionally low mana curve and over 20 redundant protection spells, such as Shore Up, Loran's Escape, and Slip Out the Back, which double as prowess triggers and double-strike enablers for a single mana. While the deck possesses remarkable shielding against spot removal and sweepers, it operates via sequential combat steps without infinite combos, making it susceptible to repeated edicts and wide go-wide strategies.
