Deck overview

Valgavoth, Harrower of Souls commands a Rakdos group slug deck built to transform symmetric and asymmetric life loss into overwhelming card velocity and combat pressure. The deck opens by establishing low-cost passive damage sources such as Razorkin Needlehead, Roiling Vortex, and Kederekt Parasite on early turns. Once Valgavoth enters the battlefield on turn 4, every instance of an opponent losing life during their turn triggers a +1/+1 counter and draws a card, yielding up to three extra cards per turn cycle while turning the commander into an imposing flying threat. Midgame turns leverage this continuous stream of cards to cast powerful damage multipliers like Solphim, Mayhem Dominus and Ojer Axonil, Deepest Might alongside punishing attrition pieces like Sheoldred, the Apocalypse and Spiteful Visions. With a dense suite of slug permanents and steady engine acceleration, the deck sets a fast clock that burns out the table around turn 7.
