Deck overview

This deck is a synergistic Golgari typal strategy led by Blech, Loafing Pest. The game plan revolves around converting lifegain triggers into permanent +1/+1 counters across five specific creature types: Pests, Bats, Insects, Snakes, and Spiders. By pairing low-cost lifegain engines like Essence Warden, Lifegift, and Tablet of the Guilds with prolific token generators like Scute Swarm, Springheart Nantuko, and Pest Infestation, the deck rapidly scales its board power. Card flow engines such as Sylvan Library, The One Ring, and Greater Good ensure a full grip of answers and gas. The deck closes games through massive trample attacks powered by Blossoming Bogbeast and Duskshell Crawler, or by draining the table with Enduring Tenacity, Starscape Cleric, and South Wind Avatar. Compact instant protection spells like Heroic Intervention and Tamiyo's Safekeeping keep the engine safe from opposing removal.
