Deck overview

This deck is a high-velocity Gruul aggro-stax engine commanded by Ruric Thar, the Unbowed. Designed with an almost pure creature-and-land curve, it leverages cheap mana dorks to deploy massive threats two turns ahead of curve. By casting Ruric Thar, the Unbowed on Turn 3 or 4, the deck heavily penalizes spellslinger, combo, and control strategies by dealing 6 damage for every noncreature spell cast. Supported by Collector Ouphe and Thorn of Amethyst, it strangles opposing artifact ramp and noncreature interaction while breaking parity completely. Massive card draw engines like Garruk's Uprising, Toski, Bearer of Secrets, and The Great Henge refill the hand as big creatures enter the battlefield. The deck converts this overwhelming board presence into game-ending combat steps via trampling behemoths such as Ghalta, Stampede Tyrant, damage multipliers like Absorbing Man and Titania, or resolving an all-permanent Primal Surge to dump the entire library onto the battlefield.
