Deck overview

This deck is a mono-blue tempo and control strategy centered around Minn, Wily Illusionist. By drawing cards on each player's turn using instant-speed cantrips, planeswalkers, and engines like Wavebreak Hippocamp, the deck steadily builds an army of scaling Illusion tokens. When these Illusions die in combat or to sacrifice effects, Minn's second ability cheats high-impact permanents straight onto the battlefield from hand. The game plan relies on holding up countermagic to interact with opponents, sculpting a full hand, and deploying asymmetric board wipes such as Raise the Palisade or Cyclonic Rift to clear paths for lethal combat attacks. Evasion enablers like Tetsuko Umezawa, Fugitive—which makes all Minn tokens unblockable due to their base toughness of 1—and Eldrazi Monument allow the Illusion army to overrun the table efficiently.
