Smaug trial #1 by user7710114

Format: Commander

Commander: Smaug the Impenetrable

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This is a Rakdos "hurt my own board" treasure-combo deck built around Smaug the Impenetrable. Smaug's indestructible, hasty 8/7 body is the central damage-recipient: the deck pings him with red sweepers and self-damage effects, turning every point of noncombat damage into Treasures while Blazing Sunsteel converts that damage into an infinite loop. The primary win is the Blazing Sunsteel + indestructible-creature loop, backed by treasure-multiplying engines (Xorn, Academy Manufactor, Goldspan Dragon) and drain payoffs (Mayhem Devil, Mirkwood Bats, Reckless Fireweaver, Marionette Apprentice). Alternate wins include Hellkite Tyrant and Knuckles the Echidna's upkeep artifact-count conditions, plus damage-multiplier one-shots through Twinflame Tyrant, Fiery Emancipation, and Isengard Unleashed. Magda, Brazen Outlaw functions as a hidden tutor engine for the key artifacts and dragons.
