Deck overview

This Simic deck is a dedicated Merfolk tribal aggro-engine led by Hakbal of the Surging Soul. The strategy establishes a wide board of low-cost Merfolk on early turns, then deploys Hakbal to trigger team-wide explore at combat. This rapidly filters the library, fills the hand with lands, ramps lands directly into play, and accumulates +1/+1 counters. Counter doublers like Branching Evolution and lords like Master of the Pearl Trident accelerate damage output, while Herald of Secret Streams and Wave Goodbye guarantee unblockable attacks. The deck can close the game through massive combat damage by Turn 6 or execute an infinite extra-turn loop using Wanderwine Prophets and Deeproot Pilgrimage. High-end free counterspells like Force of Will and Fierce Guardianship protect the board alongside mass phasing from Ripples of Potential.
