Deck overview

This deck is a high-speed competitive Golgari aristocrats combo deck led by Gorma, the Gullet. The primary game plan exploits Gorma's static replacement effect, which places a +1/+1 counter on entering nontoken creatures for each creature that died under your control this turn. When combined with a persist creature like Putrid Goblin or Lesser Masticore and a free sacrifice outlet such as Altar of Dementia or Phyrexian Altar, the +1/+1 counter cancels out the persist -1/-1 counter. This creates an immediate infinite loop of sacrifices and enters-the-battlefield triggers, winning on Turn 3 via infinite mill, infinite life drain, or infinite combat damage. Dense fast mana and premier black tutors ensure consistent Turn 1-2 acceleration and Turn 3 assembly. Backup lines like Forsaken Miner loops and Ad Nauseam bursts provide robust resilience against commander disruption. The deck protects its win turns with Veil of Summer, Autumn's Veil, and Defense Grid while contesting opponents with efficient spot removal and flash hate.
