Merfolk Mayhem by user2509959

Format: Commander

Commander: Hakbal of the Surging Soul

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Hakbal of the Surging Soul helms a Merfolk-tribal deck that converts explore triggers into a growing, unblockable army. The primary plan is to deploy cheap Merfolk, cast Hakbal on turn 4, and use his combat explore plus free-land trigger to bury opponents in card advantage and +1/+1 counters. Secondary lines use Deeproot Waters and Emperor Mihail II for free Merfolk, while Kindred Discovery and Cold-Eyed Selkie draw into more lords. There is no hidden commander; Hakbal is the main engine, with Kumena, Tyrant of Orazca and Namor acting as backups. The deck wins through combat damage, usually made unblockable by Herald of Secret Streams or islandwalk from Lord of Atlantis.
