Deck overview

This deck is an Abzan lifegain midrange strategy commanded by Betor, Ancestor's Voice. The deck leverages a dense package of early mana dorks, artifact mana, and incidental lifegain enablers to accelerate into its commander on Turn 4. Once assembled, the game plan revolves around converting life gain into large quantities of +1/+1 counters on creatures such as Ajani's Pridemate, Leonardo, Cutting Edge, and Pest Mascot, amplified by enablers like The Earth Crystal and Lathiel, the Bounteous Dawn. While the mana velocity is highly consistent and backup beaters provide strong redundancy, the deck is constrained by a lack of card draw engines, dedicated tutors, and protective spells. It relies almost entirely on untapping across multiple turn rotations to eliminate opponents through fair combat damage, making it susceptible to board wipes and targeted removal.
