Deck overview

This mono-black deck combines classic Aristocrats sacrifice synergies with heavy reanimation and big-mana finishers, helmed by Avacyn, Angel of Horror. The deck focuses on assembling cheap sacrifice outlets, death-trigger card draw, and drain payoffs early in the game using mana acceleration like Jet Medallion, Heartless Summoning, and Crypt Ghast. In the mid-to-late game, it deploys high-impact threats such as Archon of Cruelty, Gray Merchant of Asphodel, and Avacyn herself. Avacyn acts as an asymmetric engine, returning any nontoken creature that dies under your control at the beginning of each player's end step. By sacrificing value creatures on each opponent's turn, the deck generates continuous triggers that strip opposing resources and drain life totals. Although the list lacks nonland tutors and free countermagic, its sheer density of interchangeable sacrifice pieces and resilient reanimation options creates an oppressive, grind-heavy path to victory.
