Deck overview

This Golgari deck leverages Witherbloom, the Balancer to turn wide creature token boards into dramatic cost reductions for powerful instants and sorceries. Early turns focus on accelerating mana and generating token swarms using cards like Bitterbloom Bearer, Chatterfang, Squirrel General, and Prosperous Innkeeper. Once the commander enters play for as little as two mana, instant and sorcery spells gain creature affinity. This allows massive finishers such as Torment of Hailfire, Exsanguinate, and Army of the Damned to be cast for just their colored pips. The deck also features aristocrat drain engines like Mirkwood Bats, Bastion of Remembrance, and Blood Artist, which turn token death into lethal table-wide damage alongside Plumb the Forbidden. Additionally, the deck houses a compact two-card infinite combo with Witherbloom Apprentice and Chain of Smog, providing a lethal burst that bypasses combat entirely.
