Commander: Garland, Royal Kidnapper

Bracket: 2

Deck overview

Garland, Royal Kidnapper is the monarch engine and stolen-creature anthem of a UB theft/reanimation deck. The commander puts an opponent on the throne, then every time the crown moves Garland steals a creature; his "can't be sacrificed" clause turns temporary theft spells such as Treacherous Urge and Spinal Embrace into permanent control. Goad auras and tap effects force opponents to attack the monarch, keeping triggers flowing and drawing cards. A secondary reanimation lane-Gyruda, Sepulchral Primordial, The Cyber-Controller, Bringer of the Last Gift-mass-mills and rebuilds the board. No true hidden commander exists; The Cyber-Controller is the closest build-around finisher. The deck wins by overwhelming combat with buffed, un-sacrificable stolen and reanimated creatures.
