Deck overview

This deck is an Esper Sphinx tribal and high-power value engine helmed by The Ur-Sphinx. From the command zone, the commander provides constant cost reduction to deploy heavy flying Sphinxes ahead of curve. The deck accelerates through early mana rocks, cost reducers like Urza's Incubator and Heartless Summoning, and cheat enablers like Geode Golem and Reanimate. Once assembled on Turn 4, the engine generates overwhelming card advantage through Unesh, Criosphinx Sovereign and Consecrated Sphinx. The deck transitions into a lethal threat on Turn 5 by attacking with Sphinxes to trigger The Ur-Sphinx, casting up to four free spells per combat from all players' milled cards. As a potent backup angle, Dark Depths combines with Vampire Hexmage, Thespian's Stage, or Mutated Cultist to unleash a 20/20 Marit Lage or discount devastating Eldrazi titans. Strong Esper interaction shields the board while large evasive attackers dismantle opponents across two response cycles.
