Deck overview

This deck is a Rakdos group-slug strategy led by Valgavoth, Harrower of Souls. The game plan revolves around deploying cheap, passive life-loss permanents like Kederekt Parasite, Fate Unraveler, Harsh Mentor, and Mogis, God of Slaughter that deal damage whenever opponents take normal game actions such as drawing cards, casting spells, tapping lands, or activating abilities. When Valgavoth is in play, every opponent turn where an opponent loses life yields a +1/+1 counter and a card draw, granting up to 3 extra cards per turn cycle while growing Valgavoth into a lethal flying commander. The deck leverages this steady card velocity to maintain a full hand of removal and burn, grinding down opposing life totals until closing the game through high-impact finishers like Gray Merchant of Asphodel, Kaervek the Merciless, and evasive combat.
