Deck overview

This Grand Arbiter Augustin IV deck is a dedicated Azorius stax and hard-lock control build designed to choke opponent mana, spell velocity, and combat capabilities before executing an airtight lockout or combo finish. The strategy begins with efficient two-mana acceleration into a Turn 3 Grand Arbiter Augustin IV, immediately enforcing an asymmetric mana disparity by taxing opponent spells while discounting friendly white and blue spells. On Turn 4, the deck establishes suffocating board restrictions through Rule of Law effects, Static Orb, Winter Orb, or Back to Basics, while pillowfort enchantments like Ghostly Prison and Sphere of Safety neutralize combat. Once the table is constrained, the deck transitions into critical onset on Turn 6 by locking out opponent casting entirely with Knowledge Pool paired with Teferi, Time Raveler or Drannith Magistrate, or by exiling opposing libraries with Rest in Peace and Helm of Obedience. Backed by cheap countermagic and targeted removal, the deck steadily grinds out an inevitable table victory.
