Deck overview

This mono-blue control deck turns the downside of Taniwha into a tactical advantage. By running a dense suite of artifact mana rocks, the deck breaks symmetry on global land-stax pieces like Winter Orb, Back to Basics, Rising Waters, and Storm Cauldron. While opponents struggle under choked mana and bouncing lands, this deck deploys Taniwha as a massive 7/7 trample threat. Damage-multiplying equipment such as Fireshrieker and Inquisitor's Flail, along with Corrupted Conscience, turn Taniwha into a swift elimination engine. Because Taniwha phases out every other turn, it naturally evades sorcery-speed sweepers and removal. The deck backs up its board with flexible blue interaction, instant-speed creature removal, and timing locks like Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir. While the phasing cadence extends the total turns required to finish all three opponents, the sustained resource denial ensures opponents cannot mount an effective counter-strategy.
