Deck overview

This mono-black deck leverages Avacyn, Angel of Horror to turn standard death triggers into continuous advantage. By recurring nontoken creatures at the beginning of the next end step, the deck creates looping sacrifice triggers that drain life totals and wipe opposing boards. The early game focuses on setting up mana with Swamps, rituals, and Cabal Coffers while filling the graveyard using Entomb and sacrifice draw spells. In the mid-game, Avacyn enters alongside cards like Fleshbag Marauder or Gray Merchant of Asphodel, creating an oppressive board lock where opponents repeatedly sacrifice their creatures on every player's turn. Alternate lines powered by Bolas's Citadel, Syr Konrad, the Grim, and large token generators like Army of the Damned ensure consistent pressure even if the commander is removed. While vulnerable to targeted exile and graveyard hate, the deck delivers steady attrition and high-impact reanimation plays.
