Deck overview

This deck is an Orzhov stax and lifedrain attrition strategy commanded by Kambal, Consul of Allocation. Its primary game plan revolves around deploying disruptive hatebears and taxing permanents early, such as Drannith Magistrate, Thalia, Guardian of Thraben, and Archon of Emeria, to constrain opposing mana efficiency and spell velocity. Concurrently, Kambal punishes noncreature spells by draining life and buffering the pilot's life total. In the midgame, the deck transitions from minor taxation to severe attrition using heavyweight threats like Sheoldred, the Apocalypse, Painful Quandary, and Bloodthirsty Conqueror. Opponents are gradually ground down across multiple turn cycles as their actions cost them life. The game is closed out via accumulated combat damage, massive drain spells like Debt to the Deathless and Exsanguinate, Aetherflux Reservoir bursts, or an infinite loop between Exquisite Blood and Sanguine Bond.
