Kokusho by Dargarius

Format: Commander

Commander: Kokusho, the Evening Star

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

This is a mono-black sacrifice-and-reanimate drain deck built around Kokusho, the Evening Star. The core loop is simple and brutal: put Kokusho into play, sacrifice it to a free outlet, drain each opponent for 5, gain 15 life, then reanimate it and do it again. The deck amplifies this engine with Drivnod, Carnage Dominus (double death triggers), Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose and Sanguine Bond (life gain becomes life loss), and Gray Merchant of Asphodel as a second drain payoff. Saw in Half and Blade of Selves create multiple Kokusho death triggers from a single card. Fast mana from K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth, Dark Ritual, and Cabal Ritual accelerates the loop, while Ad Nauseam and Necropotence refuel. Exsanguinate closes out games once the drain has softened the table.
