Deck overview

This deck is a Boros midrange strategy built around Ertha Jo, Frontier Mentor, which doubles activated abilities that target creatures or players. The list combines a high density of pingers, such as Prodigal Pyromancer and Vulshok Sorcerer, with lethal force multipliers like Basilisk Collar and Gorgon Flail to achieve asymmetric creature control. Value engines like Humble Defector and Yes Man, Personal Securitron draw four cards per activation under Ertha Jo's doubling trigger. Untap engines like Drumbellower and haste enablers like Thousand-Year Elixir compound this board control across opponent turns. The deck finishes games by deploying wide damage escalators such as Furystoke Giant, Moraug, Fury of Akoum, or mass token creation through Orthion, Hero of Lavabrink. While it excels at dominating creature-centric boards, it operates at a fair pace without fast mana acceleration or nonland tutors.
