Deck overview

This Dimir deck pairs Imoen, Mystic Trickster with Scion of Halaster to run a focused initiative and dungeon tempo strategy. The game plan starts by deploying low-cost, unblockable, and evasive creatures such as Changeling Outcast and Dauthi Horror. On Turn 3, Imoen enters the battlefield, followed by an initiative enabler like Passageway Seer or Aarakocra Sneak on Turn 4. Taking the initiative launches dungeon progression through the Undercity, immediately fetching a basic land and triggering Imoen for extra end-step card draw. As the deck moves through the dungeon rooms, second-draw payoffs like Minn, Wily Illusionist and Mischievous Mystic generate flying and illusion token swarms. Combat damage engines like Coastal Piracy keep the hand full. Once the dungeon is completed around Turn 6, payoffs like Rilsa Rael, Kingpin and Tomb of Horrors Adventurer empower the board to close out the game over multiple combat steps by Turn 9.
