Deck overview

This deck is an Orzhov lifegain and group-slug combo build commanded by Niv-Mizzet, Ghost Counsel. Its primary path to victory is assembling an infinite life-drain loop using Exquisite Blood alongside interchangeable pieces like Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose, Enduring Tenacity, or Sanguine Bond. Efficient black tutors such as Demonic Tutor, Vampiric Tutor, and Diabolic Intent ensure consistent Turn 4–5 assembly. The commander provides card advantage by converting life gained into cards, and can act as an instant ping enabler to ignite the winning loop. Backup lines include the Bloodchief Ascension and Mindcrank mill loop and a lethal one-shot combo using Sheoldred, the Apocalypse with Peer into the Abyss. The deck defends its win attempts with Teferi's Protection and Flawless Maneuver while disrupting opposing threats through efficient removal like Deadly Rollick and Swords to Plowshares.
