Deck overview

This Orzhov deck operates as a potent Aristocrats, Attrition, and Reanimation midrange engine commanded by Carmen, Cruel Skymarcher. The primary game plan focuses on deploying early sacrifice fodder and mana accelerators, resolving Carmen, and establishing an oppressive creature-sacrifice loop. Carmen triggers on every permanent sacrificed by any player, gaining +1/+1 counters and life before recurring critical permanents from the graveyard upon attacking. The deck locks down opposing boards using interchangeable edict creatures such as Plaguecrafter and Accursed Marauder alongside powerhouse enchantments like Grave Pact. While systematically wiping away opposing commanders and blockers, Carmen scales into a lethal flying threat, closing out games through high commander damage and widespread aristocrat life drain from Blood Artist, Cruel Celebrant, and The Meathook Massacre. Supported by efficient protection spells and robust independent backup engines like Yawgmoth, Thran Physician, the deck recovers easily from removal and exerts immense attrition pressure.
